I’m Blake. I was born in Brisbane, Australia, in 1995.
I am an NDIS participant with profound disabilities, living in my own home with 24/7 support. I am much loved by my family, support team, and wider community.
I am non-verbal, but I have a lot to say. I can tell you the things I like, what I do and don’t want to do, and how I’m feeling - you just need to be observant. I understand a lot too, probably more than most people realise.
I have an easy-going nature, and I like to take things at my own pace. I can be cheeky and have a great sense of humour. Silly games make me smile, whether they are initiated by you or me!
I get excited about my favourite foods, music, and being out and about - especially public transport, swimming, trampolining, and going on walks in nature.
I appreciate structure and routine - I like being talked to about what I’m doing on any given day, being given notice when I’m going out, and being offered choices in my day.
There are aspects to my day that aren’t my favourite, like my chores, but with encouragement and support I’m growing my capacity and becoming more used to these things being a regular part of life.
My support team has made a video that tells you more about me – if you’re interested, check it out further down on this page!

Like most other people, I don't love housework; but I get it done with support. With help, I make my bed, do the laundry, put things away, and clean up after myself.

Every day is a walking day. It might be parkrun, a nature walk, the esplanade, or the museum; but movement is a very important part of my daily life.

I like going places. Sometimes we drive in my car and sometimes catch a bus, train, or ferry. I like to get out and about and see the world around me.

I am well known and much loved. I hang out with old friends and new. I have a focus to build new meaningful friendships in the coming years.

It's a full life and a man has to rest! Sometimes I just need time out. I sit on my balcony and gaze at the scenery. It's important to take a minute to be still.

Caring for my world is important. I garden, wash the car, take the bins out, and do other general jobs. They're not my favourite, but we get them done (as quickly as possible).

I have a whole support team who help me flourish and I have appointments every week. These people keep me strong and well and give me goals to work towards.

I'm learning the skills of cooking. The smell of frying garlic and onions makes me happy! I've got my favourite foods, but more and more I'm enjoying experimenting.
I have lots of people in my life. My community consists of:
The drawing on the left shows how all the facets of my community come together to create 'Team Blake'.

This is my vision:
I will live a full life of growth in community, achieving my full potential in a way that honours God, through or in areas of:
